A scammer who impersonates the member of parliament for the Kassena/Nankana East Constituency who doubles as the Minister for Aviation, Honorable Joseph Kofi Adda have succeeded in duping some of his constituents. The scammer hides behind a fake Facebook account to offer jobs to the desperate yet unemployed youth in the MP’s Constituency.
A recent revelation by a victim written to Pwaberi Denis showed the modus operandi of this scammer. The victim of this fraudulent act writes;
“Please, I have followed a post you posted on Facebook above people using the name of our MP to deceive or scam people for money. I have similar problem here, I last applied for support through the MP common fund but it was not coming. So I decided to chat him on messenger on the account name Hon. Joseph Kofi Adda, thinking that it is our MP. So he directed me to one Mr, Douglas to get government protocol scholarship form so that he will endorse it personally form. So I contacted him and he said the form is gh¢255. So I told ‘MP that I am in school so I have only 150 and he said he will top up the remaining balance, so send the money and the form was sent to me through email and I printed it filled and scanned it back to them. After that, I was blocked on that Facebook account and the Douglas number is no more going through. I will send you the charts we have on messenger. Thank you.” [edited for easy reading]
The victim subsequently followed his message with the following screenshots.
