Several key suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the murder of Soldier Imoro Sherrif in Ashaiman. The police announced in a statement on Friday, noting that the suspects were apprehended following a successful intelligence-led operation that lasted for a week.
Soldier Imoro Sherrif was found dead in Ashaiman Taifa on March 4, 2023, and his death sparked outrage among his colleagues in the military. In response, some military personnel invaded Ashaiman and reportedly brutalized some residents in a bid to find the killers of their colleagues. Several residents were also taken away for questioning, but most have been released as of Friday.
The actions of the military were condemned by the MP for the area, who stated that although the killing of the soldier was a heinous act, it was not acceptable for anyone, whether a lawmaker or a security agency, to take the law into their own hands.
