During the funeral rites of Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu, a woman shared her story of how Atsu had been her benefactor when she lived in Portugal between 2011 and 2013. The woman, who was emotional during her narration, stated that Atsu had spent over GH¢290k on her during that period.
The woman recounted how she met Atsu when he asked her for directions to obtain an item. At the time, she had a premature baby, and upon learning of her situation, Atsu gave her his number and told her to call him if she ever needed help.
The woman revealed that she was facing financial difficulties at the time as her husband had left her with expensive hospital bills for her newborn. Atsu stepped in and gave her 250 Euros every two weeks for three years, which totaled 19,500 Euros. He also helped her get her passport by funding her education.
Additionally, Atsu gave her 800 euros to process her Portuguese passport and gifted her 2,000 euros when he left Porto for Chelsea in 2013. The woman expressed her gratitude for Atsu’s kindness and generosity during her time of need.
