In Nigeria, a 33-year-old female tenant has been arrested for allegedly killing her 50-year-old landlord, Monday Oladele, during a dispute over an electricity bill. Ifeoma Ossai was taken into custody by the Ogun State Police Command after Oladele’s death on March 11 in Songo-Ota
According to the police, the suspect grabbed the victim’s testicles during an argument about the payment of the electricity bill and dragged him along with it until he collapsed. Oladele was rushed to Ota General Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The incident was reported to the Sango Ota Divisional Headquarters by Olaleye Taiwo, the complainant, and the victim’s brother. During interrogation, Ossai admitted that the deceased had asked her to pay the electricity bill, but she refused until the water was connected to her apartment as promised by the landlord before she moved in.
Following the incident, Ogun State Commissioner of Police Frank Mba ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s homicide department for a thorough investigation and prosecution. The deceased’s body was deposited at Ota General Hospital’s mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
