There have been mixed reactions from Navrongo Central’s constituents towards a published list of achievements of the member of parliament in his first year in office. The MP, Hon. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, on the 7th day of January 2022, unveiled 19 interventions he made within his first year in office as a member of parliament. This attracted both positive commendations as well as opposing reactions from some constituents.
The two paged flyer that listed all his interventions was first published on the MP’S official Facebook page following a radio interview he had on Pure FM with the afternoon drive host, Stanislaus Pwadura.
Some constituents took to their Facebook timeline to share and praise the MP for achieving that much in such a short period. “Even though he is part of the opposition party in government, he has demonstrated he is the best man for the job”, some constituents posted on their timeline.
In another strand, some constituents expressed their disappointment in what they regard as lies, exaggeration, and misrepresentation of facts. Fortunate Anuga, a visible member of the NDC and vital member of the MP’S campaign team leading to the election in 2020, described the MP presentation and publication as embarrassing, incompetent, and lie-laden since the MP has done nothing for the people of Navrongo
Mohammed Dwoods, a social media commentator and member of the Navrongo communication team of the ruling NPP Government, also expressed contrary views to praising the MP’s performance. He said, “The MP for Navrongo Central constituency is an adult, and so, when he tells lies, out of respect, we say, “it’s not true”, but this time around, it’s fair to call him and whoever wrote this baseless thing as achievements liars. I am assuring that all the lies in the supposed Navrongo central green book will be exposed. The MP is lackadaisical, uncaring, and lacks initiative towards the development of Navrongo.”
The communication team of Navrongo Central NDC in multiple posts responded to some of the opposing views as cheap propaganda from opposition political party communicators and ungrateful individuals who received help from the MP yet acts in betrayal.
Meanwhile, Some constituents also posted on their timelines indicating that there is nothing to either celebrate or condemn. They prefer to sit on the fence and watch the turn of events.
