Navrongo, a town in the Upper East Region in recent times is seeing an explosion of artiste numbers. Each passing day, new talent is birthed. Atira Kaba Parese Christopher, who is known by the stage name, Parekris is a guitarist and a live performer who hails from Navrongo in the Upper East Region of Ghana. One may find his choice, a deviation from what the majority of the youth are going into and what they enjoy especially that he is coming from Navrongo. Even in the entire country (Ghana), guitarists and live performers aren’t appreciated that much. That is a virgin area one which has fewer enthusiasts. But Parekris is motivated by the sound of a classical guitar. When guitarists juggle with the strings, and those perfect sounds are created, he is swept off his feet. His motivation in music also comes from real happenings in his surroundings. His songs are therefore based on his environment.
Parekris has taken his time to study and in fact, master his craft. He has produced his first single titled, “Kafela” (White Lady) where he talks about his love for a particular damsel (his Kafela) and fantasizes about their relationship goals. His lyrics are soothing and warming. You should hear the sound of the guitar by the guitarist and his voice: so melodious. If we believe music is food for the soul, this masterpiece pierces the very soul of music lovers. This was made and produced by TK in Navrongo. You certainly need to hear the tune, Kafela.
