The people of Kajelo community in the kassena Nankana west district on Sunday, November 14, were left in shock over the gruesome murder of a young man, Ayaga Apejona, by his father, Ane Apejona. Ayaga, in his late 20s, allegedly had a quarrel with his father, Apejona, over the ownership of wood his father used to construct a canopy.
Ayaga, mildly mentally challenged, attempted to forcefully retrieve the wood from the constructed canopy resulting in a heated confrontation with his father. Apejona, the father of Ayaga, quickly fetched his single-shot barrel gun and delivered a first shot which missed. He reloaded and shot him the second time to his chest, which resulted in his death.
Speaking to TimBia Gh, Hon Hillary Aniakwo, Assemblyman for the Kajelo electoral area, narrated that, He received a phone call from his colleague assembly member around 15:00 about the incident.
\”When I received the titbits from my colleague assembly member over the phone call, I quickly called the DCE for kassena Nankana west to inform him about the incident. He instructed me to report the case to the Ghana police service and get to the scene to ascertain the details of the incident. When I got to the scene, I gathered that Apejona quarrelled with his son ayaga, which resulted in two shots to Ayaga\’s Chest. After the act, Apejona reported himself to the police, and the police then escorted him back to the scene to retrieve the gun.\” Hon. Aniakwo Hillary stated.
Personnel of The Ghana Police Service with the Paga police command retrieved the single-shot barrel gun and detained Ane Apejona. The police have since commenced investigation into the matter. The lifeless body of Ayaga has since been embalmed and deposited at the war memorial hospital morgue.
